Birds in Romania (Bucharest)

I doubt any one can help me here, but I am going over for a week in March and was wondering if any one knows what I might encounter? Even hiring a guide for the day if it is possible would be something I would be willing to pay for. Its a long shot asking, but I might get some feed back. hope someone can help, thanks.

Try contacting Cristian mihai on BirdForum (or IM him at Yahoo! cristian_mihai3) he lives in Bucharest and may be willing to point you to a few places as well as telling you what's around.

Otherwise email Birding Pals, Cioflec who also birds in Bucharest - he won't want paying but a gift/share of any petrol money is generally the done thing

Ive totally missed this so sorry for not thanking you guys, I just googled birds in bucharest and this came to the top. id forgot all about it. It looks so helpful, thanks very much every one for that fine info.

Try the Fatbirder website. Go to the worldbirding map and work through to Europe and then Romania. There will some info and trip reports on there. Very good for finding out sites and where to see species. Always my first port of call when going abroad.

Ty so much Adam, on one of the other helpful links I got I found a guys email in Bucharest to book and for some reason his email is no longer available. Ill gety on that today mate, thanks again.

Adam, I have just looked through that site and it is totally brilliant mate. Unfortunately most of the companies do there tours on the Danube delta, it seems like some place! I have just phoned a friend in Bucharest and she tells me its a 4 hour drive so that is a no go as its not a birding holiday I am going on. There was a couple of guides in Bucharest, but as my luck would have it they only do weekends and I am there Mon to Fri. Still it will be added to my faves and I thank you once again for your help my friend
