| | | Our first Blackcaps! We are quite lucky where we live in Warrington. Our garden backs onto some woods. So for my bird photography we have three feeding stations and multiple feeders dotted around.
Today a first for us, two male blackcaps
Hopefully I'll get some images before our sparrowhawks gets them. We have a pair that fly through too many times a day.
regards.

| | | Re: Our first Blackcaps! I too have enjoyed visits from a male blackcap over the last few weeks. Indeed, ever since I introduced a suet feeder to the feeding station, I've noticed an increasing variety of birds, including long-tailed tits, which arrive in groups.
The blackcap, however has become the star of the moment, with ever- increasing visits to the station. No sign of a mate yet, so he may move to new pastures in the Spring.

| | | Re: Our first Blackcaps! As you can see from my avatar, I'm a big fan of Blackcaps. We are also lucky to have woods nearby and, for me, their arrival is the sign that winter has actually arrived. I never get visits in the summer. We had four males and a single female in December, which is a couple more than usual. This was probably because of the early snows as I'm seeing no more than a male and a female at a time these days.
Enjoy them and do post photos if they manage to dodge your hawks!

| | | Re: Our first Blackcaps! i've had a pair regularly visiting my feeder this week, so happy to see them, as i rarely see these in winter. There's a couple of cats nearby that have tried their luck, but the blackcaps are very wary, and have even mobbed one of them at one point.
nice to have them, as there's no woods or anything nearby, just lots of reasonably good gardens (wildlife wise)
