| | | Much excitement! So, about a month ago a family of long tailed tits were in my tree next to the house. They stayed for about 10 mins and were off... and I have been looking for them ever since as we don't see any and I would really like them to come to the feeders.
Not seen them for ages and then last week I just got a glimpse out of the window and saw some in the tree again, but they were gone by the time I got my bins.
Yesterday, they came back and found the feeders! yay! They didn't stay for long but I am really hoping they come back now they know where they are, just like the greenfinch, goldfinch and woodpeckers have.
Been looking out all morning and nothing yet BUT for the first ever time 4 BULLFINCH landed in the next tree along, right at the top! Two cocks and two hens. I have always wanted to see a Bullfinch so it has made my day! The cock bird has to be the most stunning boy I have ever seen. His plumage was glowing! I am so happy!
You never know, they might come back and visit again, just like the long tails! Fingers crossed! |

| | | Re: Much excitement! Sounds like your getting some good birds. Long tailed tits can be very sporadic. You often get these little flocks which turn up out of the blue then dont see them for a while. Its often completely different flocks of birds. Its always worth paying close attention because they can sometimes bring other birds with them which have grouped up into a tit flock. |

| | | Re: Much excitement! Well, the bullfinch have been back again yesterday. This time in the bramble bush down the end behind the stables. 2 cocks, 2 hens, so they are obviously in the area for a while.
V pleased! |

| | | Re: Much excitement! We get a small flock of LT Tits here nearly every day at the moment. They tend to visit at the same time every day, currently about 4.00pm'ish, so I guess they are filling up on peanuts and fat before they roost for the night.
Well done on your bullfinches. The males are stunning. We do get a pair here occasionallly, especially during late summer when there are seed heads about for them to feed on. They are very nervous birds though so don't hang around too long. |

| | | Re: Much excitement! Long-tailed tits have recently become regular visitors to my garden too. They tend to take a back seat to the other birds though, getting pushed to the sidelines. No bullfinches unfortunately, but I live in hope |

| | | Re: Much excitement! Hi
you lucky thing to have bullfinches! We have seen a family of LT tits 4 to 5 times in the summer, garden always seem so busy when they visit the various feeders around the garden, only staying for a few minutes each time. Not had any since, perhaps my peanuts are not to there taste !! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
