| | | ID help please. Inland NE Scotland today I was driving to one of my favourite areas to walk today and there was a flock of birds en-route so I stopped to see what they were. It was a mixed flock and I saw Chaffinch, Brambling, Redpoll and something else that I wasn't sure of.
I know what I want it to be and I think it might be but I'd like to be sure so I'd appreciate other opinions . |

I just couldn't see clearly through my bins as the wind was making my eyes water like mad so I took a couple of shots with the camera in the hope that I'd get something that was IDable .
Sorry to be a bit over excited but Twite is a first for me. |

| | | Re: ID help please. Inland NE Scotland today I love twite. When I was a lad, on most local walks over the moors you would see plenty of twite. These days alas, there are just a few breeding hangers on and wintering birds are very scarce indeed. Moorland fires in key areas in spring I think are part of the problem here in the South Pennines, as well as loss of mooredge/in-bye pasture, an important habitat requirement here during the breeding season.
