Bittern spotted at idle valley reserve

apparently there has been a sighting of a Bittern at the Idle Valley Nature reserve on Nottinghamshire,

although right on our doorstep, its somewhere i have not been for years !

but it was in the same area some 20 years ago, on some abandoned gravel workings, where i saw my first (and only) Bittern,
this particular area was haven for wildlife, but was turned into a landfill site and destroyed,

still somewhere i havent been to, its the wrong end of the county for me! tends to get some excellent birds there tho

i'm at the right end of the County, but still never get around to making the twenty minute trip to get there

i'd be there all the time - especially as there has been a great white egret there a lot recently!!!
