Blackbird with black beak.

I've just been outside for a ciggy and observed a male blackbird with a black beak.
Never seen that before, is that a common occurence?

This is a 1st winter bird. They are much more obvious in late summer/autumn. Most birds are starting to show quite a lot of yellow on the bill now.

I also have one or two black beakers in my garden much to the disgust of my resident male blackbird.

One of mine has a silver ring on his right leg I get to see him more than the others as he gets pushed down onto the patio where unknown to the others he gets fed plumped up raisins/sultanas

Maybe this isnt a possibility but if you can get close or have a powerful scope/camera it would be interesting if you could see the ring number or name.
