Robins

I have two Robins in my garden.

Just a couple of Q's

Does the female have the same colouring? If so, it's probably a pair, right?

Also, one of them has a very distinctive white tail bar, is this common?

1) Yes both sexes look the same, so possibly a pair.
2) The white tail bar is leutism all birds can show this. Although a white bar running through several feathers is quite interesting. I had a bird with white in its wing last autumn, I thought it was something interesting when I first saw it in flight.

cool, thanks, but I have been really thick and automatically wrote 'tail bar' when I meant 'wing bar'

I have looked up photos and some show a hint of white on the wing (like a chaffinch) but this bird has it quite pronounced.

Robins show a thin yellow wing bar this is often more clear in 1st winter birds. It could be this that you are seeing.
