| | | Chaffinch spotted Hello there!
I am new to 'Wild about Britain' my inspiration beinf the sighting of a new bird in my garden this morning.
We are lucky enough to have a wide variety of beautiful birds but I quickly spotted this intruder and watched its charming little ways though out its visit.
I then googled and found this wonderfully helpful sight which helped me identify it as a 'Chaffinch'
My eyes are now peeled for its next visit and hopefully a photo opprtunity.
Does anyone happen to know if they are common to Surrey? As this is my first sighting.
Cheers

| | | Re: Chaffinch spotted I saw my first Chaffinch yesterday after going over a year without one in the garden. Some people get flocks of them while others get the cold shoulder from them
Oh and welcome to a great site
Chris.

| | | Re: Chaffinch spotted Welcome Littleflower.
Chaffinches are common but not, in my experience, everywhere.
In my east London garden I see one or two a week. In another garden I know in NW Scotland during last summer there were about 6 every day.

i have seen c5-6 in the little wooded area next to my house , but strangly enough have only seen the one male and one female in my garden during the summer months, and nothing over the winter.. upon saying that i spotted the female in the font garden the other day.
