| | | Bizarre week for birds! I was going to post this on 'Bird of the Day'.....but as I've had a few surprises lately, I thought I'd share them here instead!
Over the last few days while walking locally along the Monsal Trail, I've seen a Treecreeper, 2 Goldcrests, 5 Greenfinches, a group of around 20 Long Tailed Tits, 2 Mistle Thrushes, a charm of around 10 Goldfinches and then today, I've seen a lone male Bullfinch!
Now although I've seen the above birds many times over the years, I haven't seen any of them along the M.Trail for quite a few months! In fact, it must be well over a year since I've seen a Bullfinch along there!
I often walk along muttering to myself (should I really admit to that? ) that I'd love to see something a bit different to Blackbirds, Robins, Blue Tits & Chaffinches etc.....so to see all the above within a few days of each other is really quite bizarre....but also amazing!
At least, I think so!
Tracey

| | | Re: Bizarre week for birds! Have we had an invasion of foreign tree creepers? I've not seen one for a while and then on a short walk I saw three separate ones on Wednesday in less than an hour. |

| | | Re: Bizarre week for birds! i've seen 3 treecreepers this week. they tend to group together in winter, as well as dispersing a bit more due to food shortages. Similar to tits and you will often see them amongst 'roving tit flocks'. Not sure whether we get wintering birds here though.
nice list though, especially the goldcrests!
