| | | Garden birds in a frenzy ! The linnets and tits are absolutely frenzied today !
They're in the large evergreen bushes and rowan tree in my front garden and they're all highly excitable
The blue tits are attracted to a huge Viburnum tinus' flowers (which are abundant this year) and its huge size makes for fantastic cover as they dart in and out of the rowan tree which is next to it - they also visit the escallonia hedge which is a few feet away.
The great, coal and long tailed tits are mostly in the rowan - this tree has several seed feeders hanging in its branches.
The linnets are always in the rowan - some feeding at the seed feeders and some on branches waiting their turn - usually around 26 of these in the tree at one time.
The linnets really intimidate the female blackbird who also feeds here ..... they're buzzing all around her and she ends up returning at a quieter time !!!
Every so often i notice these excitable occasions and it's always the linnets and the tits who are most energetic, it's almost like they're in a different mood to usual !!!
I wonder what causes it ? ! |

| | Re: Garden birds in a frenzy ! Sounds unusual behaviour for Linnets- I've rarely seen them use feeders, but have seen a photo once of them using them. Have you got any photos of them? |

| | | Re: Garden birds in a frenzy ! I have quite a lot but, because i don't have a zoom lens they're very, very difficult to make out.
I'll have a look through my photo files over the next few days and see if i think any are better than others and i'll post them in this thread, Aeshna |

You get used to it and I find it makes me post far fewer pics than I would do otherwise, which possibly might be a good thing as I am a picture whore by nature.
My observations indicate that Tits, especially Blue Tits, are always scampering about as if in a frenzy - It's just their manner.
