| | | Greenhouse 2 years ago I put a greenhouse in my small back garden, I have noticed a decrease in the number of birds to visit it, and wonder if the greenhouse is to blame. My feeders remain mostly untouched, I am sad not to see my garden friends.
I am aiming to plant some bird friendly shrubs this spring to hopefully attract the birds back.
But however I was absolutely thrilled to have a Redwing for a few days in the snow, it sat on a bush that never seems to attract anything, and feasted on the bountiful supply of berries it always has. Needless to say with the snow gone so was the Redwing, but it was a lovely bird. |

| | | Re: Greenhouse I don't think a greenhouse would have an effect on bird visitors to your garden to be honest. If you have redwing that's a pretty good visitor! Have you moved the feeders to a different position? Have you got a newly arrived cat in the neighbourhood that may be skulking around?

| | | Re: Greenhouse Our greenhouse is around 8x6 and the birds s it on it they have done since we put it up, only the auto window opener seems to faze some of them.
I regard our back garden as small, but what is a small garden?

| | | Re: Greenhouse Thankyou, I am happy to hear that my greenhouse is not the cause of the birds not visiting me, I hadnt thought it would but my husband suggested it, so I became concerned.
I have 2 ponds and keep the waterfall running all year round for the birds, they used to use it like a jacuzzi which was fun to watch.
There is a young cat in the area, so I am planning to plant some small shrubs that the birds will like and also give them some cover, in the hope they return to me. I did see a robin and blue tit yesterday dive down grab some grub and go again, its just none sstick around. So more cat deterrant olants will be the order of the day.
Yeah I was absolutely thrilled to have the Redwing visit for 2 days of non stop guzzling, when it first came down I was out there in the garden replenishing seed and it landed 2 foot from me and didnt scare at all by my movements.
So I am now googling a bird friendly planting for next year, any suggestions will be greatly received. |

| | | Re: Greenhouse I personally dont feel its the greenhouse - as suggested have you moved the feeders. Redwings are beautiful birds so you should be glad you managed that one. Just be patient and get some shrubs and I'm sure you will get your rewards. |
