| | | Your Favourite Bird Photo 2010 As the end of another year fast approaches, if you had to choose just one of the bird photos you have taken in 2010 as a favourite, which one would it be and why?
I realise this might not be easy, but let's give it a go. It might be your technically best, your favourite cos of the bird, or the memories that go with it. Please add any comments you might have on others' photos to the photos themselves.
Mine would have to be one of my Puffin shots from the Farne Islands. This year was the first time I had ever visited, and I enjoyed the experience so much I did it twice! A thoroughly magical time, and my favourite shot would be this one: |

It was on a local canal and kept posing for me turning it head from side to side, I got lots of lovely shots of it. |

This one from Cemlyn in July because it was really my first attempt at birds in flight and the results were much better than I'd expected!

| | | Re: Your Favourite Bird Photo 2010 Not easy for me to choose just one shot........so I'm having two!......
This one was taken on the Monsal Trail, while out walking with a good friend of mine. I think it encapsulates perfectly two things that I love...
Walking and wildlife! ..... Not a good shot by any means - but this was taken just below Stanage Edge (Peak District) and was my first ever sighting of a Ring Ouzel. That's why it's a favourite! ...... and another.....(it's the same bird, so it doesn't count! ).... Happy New Year all!

| | | Re: Your Favourite Bird Photo 2010 For me it was a chioce between 2 pictures, a Buzzard picture and a Herron picture but I think I will have to go with my Buzzard picture.
I am my own worse critic when it comes to the photographs I take. This Buzzard is probably the first picture I took that I was "happy". It was nearly impossible not to get a good shot, it slowly glided right over so close that it at times it didnt fit the view finder.
This picture is virtually uncropped, just changes size to become a monitor background. |

| | | Re: Your Favourite Bird Photo 2010 Nice pictures and stories everyone
Ok, mine isn't brilliant quality but the memories of that day I will NEVER forget
I had been out walking my dog around the local fields, one Sunday afternoon. I noticed a lot of little birds sitting on a telephone wire, above a hedge. I stopped to look and used my camera to zoom in on the little birds to see what they were. 30 Yellowhammers perched on the telephone wire .
As I watched in amazement, as I'd never seen that many Yellowhammers before, I heard geese in the distance. Their calling got louder as they got closer and they eventually flew right over my head. At this point, the sky was full of HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of Pink Footed Geese ! I really do mean hundreds, and it took nearly half an hour for all of them to fly right over where I was standing. All but 2 smaller groups at the back flew right over me. The other 2 groups circled a couple of times and headed off eastwards.
It was such an amazing experience, first seeing 30 Yellowhammers together then having hundreds of Pink Footed Geese fly directly overhead
This picture is a small handful of those geese but a very big memory I'll never forget | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
