Lack of lapwing
Hi all
We are on our annual New Year break in Somerset doing the reserves and the levels, one thing that has been really noticeable is the lack of lapwing! In previous years there have been flocks in virtually every field, this year, not a one. I should imagine that the cold weather of last week was at fault, am guessing that they will arrive once I am back in the Midlands.
Would appreciate updates from anyone living/birding locally.

Im not familiar with that area, however lapwing in this part of the country tend to move to the coast in winter, especially when there is large amounts of snow on the ground.

There hasn't appeared to be any shortage here in North Devon and the Taw Estuary and surrounding fields have had their usual flocks.
