| | | New visitor to my garden. Yesterday, I noticed a Red Legged Partridge in my garden. Feverishly, I tried to find batteries for my camera, without luck. My mobile phone needed to be charged up. I phoned my brother, who was out on his own photo expedition. An hour later, he arrived. Quickly, he took photos. The camera was cold and the room was hot which creates problems with condensation on the lens, consquently the photos have a misty effect. What was all the fuss about? He has been here for 2 days now. It is a rare bird in my area (Merseyside) |

| | | Re: New visitor to my garden. A nice bird to get in the garden! Not in a pear tree though!
In the recent hard weather I've heard several people get this species as a new garden bird- obviously quite resourceful. |

| | | Re: New visitor to my garden. Agree, nice bird in your garden. They're quite common around here & like to play dogems with the car!
They are also very tasty, not that I would dream of suggesting trying that one, he's very pretty.
However, if you're ever offered one.......

| | | Re: New visitor to my garden. We had one in the garden on Christmas Eve (don't have a pear tree either!). We had lying snow and he was very hungry and fairly tame as when I put out some chicken corn for him he let me get quite close. We had one here last year when it snowed too. Very pretty little birds. |

| | | Re: New visitor to my garden. My mum had one right up by her patio doors. She was very excited and my nephew got a distant shot as it flew up un a fence.
I wonder how long it would be before a RLP works out that they don't get shot at in a garden! Unless it's in a hunters garden of course!
