Last week I went to Malta and had a brilliant week with family. The sun shone and it was lovely and warm.
Before I left I put out lots of food for the birds but the bag of sunflower seeds had let in water ( keep them in the bag in a sealed bucket which had split ). I drained the water then dashed out the door and promptly forgot about them.
Returned home 3 days ago to find the bag looked like it was full of white worms because all the seeds had sprouted.....a whole kilo of them

.
Waste not want not so yesterday chucked the lot over the deep snow in the garden. Today I've had the best day watching the birds enjoying the feast!
The list includes...blackbirds, starling, chaffinches, greenfinches, tree sparrows, bramblings, thrush, blue tit, great tit, robin, dunnock, wood pigeon and even a buzzard landed on the fence to check out the menu before moving on ! There was also one I've never seen here before but I think may be a yellowhammer.
Malta was lovely but there is no place like home when home has such beautiful creatures to watch.
