| | | Lots of visitors today So far we have had on the tables and feeders:
dunnocks
robin
crow
nuthatch
long tailed tits
blue tits
great tits
coal tit
marsh/willow tit
1 lone starling
2 tree sparrow
3 black birds (one male with a dark coloured beak)
1 wood pigeon
2 collared doves
None of them are moving very far either just the trees on the perimeters of the field so you can tell how cold it is. |

| | | Re: Lots of visitors today That's a great list Violet.
Just noticed that the birds here are using the fat feeder today. They don't normally, preferring just the hearts feeders. Bird behaviour seems to be changing because of the bad weather.

| | | Re: Lots of visitors today It really is making the birds change their normal patterns, just had a wren on the bird table, they are normally in the bushes and around the edge, poor thing is desperately looking for insects. |

| | | Re: Lots of visitors today We have a yard at the back that gets all the leaves and bits of moss and old plant bits round the edge. I don't sweep it up too carefully, and the wrens and blackbirds work all round the flowerpots and the leaves. Little places like that seem to get well known, there is always some bird scratting about.

| | | Re: Lots of visitors today Its good to see other people getting lots of visitors too. Its funny that you mention about chaffinches and greenfinches as our numbers have dropped this year too, last winter/spring we had at least six pairs of chaffinches that were regular visitors they would feed alongside the wagtails, this year I have only seen one lone male and two greenfinches. |
