Fight in Box 3

A bluetit has been roosting in Box 3 for the last few nights - but he had to defend his new home yesterday.

What lovely clear pictures,how clean inside the box is your bluetits are very house proud. Hope they didnt hurt each other to much.
My bluetit didnt come back to roost over a week ago now.

Not house proud at all, unfortunately!

Box 3 is newly built using marine ply and only recently installed ( the old one was built with outdoor quality ply, and had started to warp quite badly).

We thought at first we had a female rooster because the box seemed to be kept clean - but then we realised that he had been roosting on the "shelf" and it's only recently that his poos are being swept off and onto the floor of the nesting area where they can be seen via the top camera.

Im sure no one came out the worst, its the sort of thing we dont seen very often, and when the technology comes along , its so unnatural for some of us to see it.. i love seeing the otherside of birds and there behaviour.

It does anoy me when mr robin chased of 2 long tailed tits from my garden this morn...

The fight for Box 3 continues.

This rather blurred pic shows the bluetit inside the box holding onto the intruder's leg:



This went on for over 12 seconds, before he was able to escape.
