Another random blackbird question...

Mr and Mrs Blackbird were in the garden today at usual time (noonish)

And Mrs Blackbird wasn't in a happy mood...

When Dax, our family dog, went out into the garden she swooped down at him and returned to the fence she had been perched on.

The dog came in and when Mr. blackbird joined her on the fence she sort of lunged towards him and then flew after him.

She repeatedly chased him and seemed rather irritated by him...

Does anyone know or have any ideas as to why she was behaving like this?

Is it nearing their mating season maybe

She doesn't normally act this way...

I think all birds are acting a bit strange at the moment, they are stressed because of the weather. Probably she is seeing him as a threat, rather than a mate as he is taking a share of the available food.
