| | | Birds and peanut butter Watched an old Christmas edition of Gardeners World on one of the Sky channels last night, and there was a demo of how to make bird feeders with pine cones "stuffed" with peanut butter, then rolled in bird seed and hung up. Looked a good idea, but I was just concerned about the salt content of the peanut butter? Looked on the label of a jar I have and it definately has added salt - would this do any harm? |

| | | Re: Birds and peanut butter Although peanut butter contains a large amount of salt i'm sure this wouldn't be lethal to the birds, The fat content is very high so there are more pro's than cons.
I have produced the pine cone feeders before and i used suet instead . |

Vince | I think sea birds snot the access salt out of their nostrils so are adapted to those conditions not like the sparrows in the garden.. |

| | | Re: Birds and peanut butter Peanut butter is a blend of peanuts, vegetable oil and salt. Why not try making your own ? Put some peanuts in a blender and crush them finely. Add a little vegetable oil at a time and mix to form a paste = salt free peanut butter . | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
