We had a partridge in the garden this afternoon. Hubby first saw him one morning last week, and said he was really tame, obviously hungry, so he put out some seed on his way to work.

I was out feeding our animals earlier, when I heard something scatching around near the hedge. Initially dismissed it as a blackbird or similar, then he started to walk towards me! I got some maize and pigeon mix out and scattered to him, which he seemed very grateful for. Pretty little bird. He disappeared just before dark. Hope he roosts somewhere high as we have seen lots of fox poo about recently.

Recently had a red legged partridge roosting on our roof , and i live in a moderately built up area , proving that the birds are desperate for food . Try and post some pics if you can as they are fantastic birds .
Is the bird a red legged or grey ?

Ours is a red legged. In the past few years there has been a "heathland restoration project" on some of the local clay mining areas, and we have suddenly got a lot more wildlife here so looks as if it works!
