| | | Unidentified duck I was in Congleton (Cheshire) yesterday (Sunday December 12th 2010) and on a lake in a park there I saw a duck, larger than a Mallard (actually they were mobbing it). It had a duck’s beak, predominantly dark brown plumage with dark green flashes on the wings; a thin white collar round its neck and white speckles on the top of its head. I can’t find it in any bird book I’ve seen so far. Any ideas? |

| | | Re: Unidentified duck Sounds like another domestic breed of Mallard.
Have a look at this link: http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/Ducks/BRKDucks.html
It might be a Duclair, or a mixture of several different ducks!
