| | | Waxwing question Hi, Today I saw my first Waxwing, well there were 4 of them actually..It's always nice seeing a new bird. My question is. I live in North West oxfordshire is it strange to see these birds so far in land as I believed they stuck more to the East coast? Cheers! |

| | | Re: Waxwing question They can turn up anywhere though tend to be more numerous in north/east. This year has seen a large influx + many parts of the country are enjoying these delightful birds- including many inland sites like yours.
I've yet to connect with any this winter, but hope to catch up with some soon! |

| | | Re: Waxwing question From the UK400 club on 12.12.10
Southern Britain is now experiencing a phenomenal influx of BOHEMIAN
WAXWINGS - at least 4,000 in all - and is literally all over, from Kent in the
east to West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the west. many more SMEW
have also moved in from the continent and the icy conditions have made
EURASIAN BITTERNS very noticeable and easy to locate, some reedbed sites
harbouring 6 or more.. |
