| | | Feeding the Jays Hi all, I thought you might like to see a video I've posted on a certain well known video sharing website (trying not to break forum rules!). If you search on Feeding Jays Regents Park it should come up, we were able to hand feed some opportunistic Jays , what a treat!

All the best | Would this really be breaking Forum rules - and if so, where can I find them? |

| | | Re: Feeding the Jays Hello again, and thanks for all the replies. We nearly talked ourselves out of going because we'd left it quite late in the day and it was getting dark but we still got in a good hour of feeding the squirrels, jays, magpies & crows. At one point a big brown rat ran out of a hedge and chased a crow in a circle like some surreal Benny Hill parody, I kicked myself for not having the camera ready for that
The website is YouTube if you haven't guessed/found it, and the exact title is Feeding the Jays in Regents Park by mham733. Elizabeth, I probably was being overcautious re the rules, but I'd clicked on the rules button at the top of the page and it was the line about not allowing links to external images that put the frighteners on me!
I've managed to hand feed robins, blue & great tits, sparrows, starlings and now jays but all in London Parks where they are unsually bold, and also chaffinches at Derwent Water. A couple of magpies came very close but couldn't quite overcome their instinct. I feel an alternative to twitching coming on, seeing how many wild birds I can feed by hand. We'll ignore the ethics
Cheers

| | | Re: Feeding the Jays It's here... YouTube - Feeding the Jays in Regents Park .wmv
WAB doesn't allow links to external images, excessive links to commercial sites or links to personal web sites that don't have a reciprocal link back to WAB. There's no harm with the occasional link to a You Tube vid as long as it's wildlife related.
That looked like good fun and reinforces the view that Regent's Park is the best place for wildlife in central London.

Dave P. | Here here!
The jays are tame in Regents, especially around the 'squirrel/heron area' in front of the college as at least one person walks along leaving jays nuts on the fence |
