| | | Peregrine falcon sighting On my way into work this morning I saw a peregrine falcon swoop over the road and perch itself on the church a stones throw away from where I work in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs. I can see one side of the church tower from my store and I have never seen the bird beforehand. After a quick search online I found the following link which shows a pair of them on the very same church last year. http://ispot.org.uk/taxonomy/term/3531
Has anybody else witnessed the Peregrines in this area? It's a shame that I don't have my camera with me.

| | | Re: Peregrine falcon sighting Yeah a lot of the major cities have at least one breeding pair now. I have found the following article on the RSPB regarding the local peregrines in November. Hopefully they will stick around and breed with a bit of luck! North Staffs Local Group - The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds

| | | Re: Peregrine falcon sighting Sorry to bump an old thread.
There is a Male peregrine present at the same location again, I have seen him the last 2 days perched on St. Giles church, Newcastle under-lyme, Staffs. He is visible on the side facing the A34. So if you haven't seen a Peregrine beforehand and your local then it's worth going for a look! |

I have just e-mailed the RSPB to let them know, hopefully this time they get things sorted. I can see the tower from where I work by the way, it's only 100 yards away, having a nesting pair around would make my day that bit more interesting! |
