| | | Snow joke Here in the deepest south we'd seen virtually no snow...until last night. Blimey there has been some dumping, about 6-8 inches I would say, at least. This morning I braved the cold and the depths and put out a piece of wood with a smorgasbord of food on it - so far the following have visited in 30 minutes:
Song Thrush
Nuthatch
Robin
Dunnock
Collared Dove
Blue Tit
Great Tit
Blackbird
No sign of the Brambling from yesterday though. Yesterday I spent a little time looking out the windows and got up to 19 species including the Brambling (1st visit) a Lapwing overflight (3rd time) and Kestrel (6th time). I am pretty sure I saw a Red Kite (would be 5th time and not included in the 19) too but it went behind a tree before I could get a positive ID.
I will be opening up my garden to the public soon!

| | | Re: Snow joke I'm very jealous of your Nuthatch, RobS. We are on the south coast, and it's unusual to be snowed in here, but we are, grumble, grumble ... |

| | | Re: Snow joke i think, with use of my electron microscope, that that is indeed a brambling... seriously though nice bird to have in the garden, looks good in the snow.
i've been putting out food but i don't have much variety, just some oats, apples and berries that i picked and didnt use from a while back, but not much seems to have visited. i presume nearby there is a garden like yours rob where the birds joke between each other about the rubbish offerings i am providing. haha

| | | Re: Snow joke The beard - are you using a scanning electron, a transmission electron or a scanning transmission electron microscope?
Acccciiiippppiiitttteeerrrrr I wasn't aware that having a prostate op meant you couldn't have sex? I know that it can lead to incontinence (that was what I was involved in, in a minor way, ways to stop the leaking).
