Grey or Golden?

Hi all, I think grey plover, but, i could be wrong.

I would favour Grey Plover too, based on heavy bill, and presuming it was a solitary bird on the beach... often where I see them too.

Hi thanks, yes it was alone, apart from about 200 canada goose,s/geese? around it, this was on the camel estuary, and the only plover i saw yesterday, cheers L.

...and the plumage does tend to be much greyer (with larger pale 'notches' on the tertials).


Don't rely too much on whether it is a solitary bird on the beach though

...solitary Golden Plovers can sometimes be found feeding on beaches/mud flats as well!
