| | | Re: Quite chuffed We used to get them in the field near us until the highway dept decided to move an entire motorway (staighten it) which ended up going, yes you've guessed it, directly through the field.
On the positive, the vacant land that was the motorway, now has nesting skylarks that can be heard from the nearby supermarket. I hope as this has be now graded as brownfield, that the council don't decide to put houses on it. Fingers crossed, as they say.

| | | Re: Quite chuffed A few moving around London at the weekend; I found a flock of 15 on a playing field in Northolt on Saturday + while on a bird walk in South Ealing on Sunday a flock of 18 flew over heading west.

| | | Re: Quite chuffed Three flocks of Lapwings observed around Pagham Harbour and nearby Medmerry on Sunday 28th November. Would estimate in total, close on 150 birds. |

| | | Re: Quite chuffed I was thinking exact same thing today - saw my first lapwings in years today walking along the Clyde estuary, estimated between 10-20. Lovely looking as the sun was going down, they looked more brown and white than black and white.
I remember seeing huge crowds of these birds on roundabouts, of all places, when I was a young 'un. I always thought they looked so exotic, especially when they took flight with those big wide wings. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
