where can i see waxwings in staffordshire

I'm desperate to see some too.

I live about 8 miles west of Stafford, towards Newport, but I've been keeping track of Waxwing sightings in the region. I finally managed to get a day off to go check out the 'hotspots' and it peeeeed it down with rain, so had to abort.

Anyway, from my sources (Staffordshire Bird News) and the BirdGuides free service, there have been the following recent sightings:

Cannock Chase - Most days
Westport Lake
Stafford - Wildwood estate (behind Co-op)
Stafford (end of Sweetbriar Way)
Berry Hill

There seem to be a decent number in the region, so fingers crossed.

Please let me know if you have any luck, hopefully this weekend will be better weather to get out and about.

I went home at lunch time today to find my wife looking at about 100 Waxwings in an oak tree opposite our house in Great Wyrley, near Cannock. When quiet, they were flying across to a smaller tree outside our house for the orange berries. I can't recall having seen a waxwing before, so I am pleased to have seen so many at once.

If any of you are close by, the postcode is WS6 6PE. There is only one oak tree at this postcode, so you shouldn't have a problem.
