| | | Tawney owl I heard a tawney owl last night not sure which garden,gardens are quite big with large trees, we live in i surpose a small town poulton-le-fylde also there was a rumpus in the garden with the birds couple of days a ago and i know blackbirds and other birds will attack them but i dont know why.

| | | Re: Tawney owl They mob them because tawny owls are a threat, they will pick off roosting birds. The habitat sounds good, you get good numbers of sub-urban/urban birds provided there are plenty of trees and areas to hunt in. |

Why does it seem that they always park themselves outside my window
but seriously, they are a nice bird to have around, very countryside sounding

| | | Re: Tawney owl Go and take a really good look up into the trees you can access, from all angles. We've one down here that roosts in exactly the same spot everyday (when not rainy or windy - we don't know where it goes then) and has done so for the last 2 years but it is fearsomely difficult to see.

| | | Re: Tawney owl Thanks for the info i have had a look around but i could not find the owl ,i think its in next doors garden his garden is huge trouble is he is grumpy.A couple of years ago and two miles down the road we had long eared owls,lots of people there with camera's.
