We get many birds from the continent in winter. Robins, Blackbirds and Starlings all join our native birds during the winter and then return to the continent in spring. It is odd to think that some of the birds we are seeing during the winter you may well see in the spring/summer.
Blackcaps come from Germany (while ours migrate south) they find the weather less harsh here.
Certainly we get Bramblings during the winter as well as Waxwings.
Some of the birding experts may be able to give more info.
