| | | The calls from flocks at this time of year just seem so evocative I love the sounds that flocks of birds make at this time of year. The way their calls 'light up' the air can be magical. There is something very special about their voices when they travel in groups and 'talk' to each other.
Two of my recent favourites: the heavenly noise from a flock of Skylarks over a field of stubble yesterday, and the energetic sounds from a flock of Lesser Redpolls feeding in birch trees the weekend before.
Does anyone else get a thrill from hearing the chatter of birds in groups?

| | | Re: The calls from flocks at this time of year just seem so evocative Being 'ard of 'earing and not able to get the tinkle of tits, the sonorous skylarks or the reedy redpolls, it's the sound of an arriving skein of pink footed geese from the frozen north that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. |

| | | Re: The calls from flocks at this time of year just seem so evocative Yes, I've had the tests and go in this week to make some progress. The aids are much better than they used to be ten years ago when I was diagnosed with upper frequency loss and I'm told they are available to correct my loss. Spot on Acipiter! |

| | | Re: The calls from flocks at this time of year just seem so evocative Have got aid for both ears for a year now due to noise damage. It has made a lot of difference. Can even hear flocks of birds in the fields and the beating of wings. All those tits in groups can be heard now.Love the calls of all the sparrows out by the gate at the field just at the back.

| | | Re: The calls from flocks at this time of year just seem so evocative Got to love a charm of goldfinches!!! Mixed tit flocks are also great - its always inrteresting to see what might be lurking within them - had goldcrest and marsh tits mixed in with the commoner ones recently
