| | | Skull I.D. please.... Found on Chesil Beach, West Dorset at western end and on shingle. It's about 80mm overall but I could measure it (it's at a friend's house).
We think it's likely to be a bird because the skull is so lightweight.
Thankyou for any help

henrya | ....Yes, we did think it may be spine related (leading to pelvis) but neither of us are experts, hence asking on WAB.
Also, bird skulls usually are integrated with the beak.
The difficult question remains which bird species? Or at least likelihoods.

| | | Re: Skull I.D. please.... Definite bird pelvis. Bit hard to say what from, but it's quite large and narrow. Might suggest a large seabird such as Cormorant or Gannet. |

As large as that, eh? There aren't any Gannets in this neck of the woods but quite a few Cormorants. People around here call them Shags - At least I think that's what they're saying to me!
I'll ask my friend to measure it.

We do see the occasional Gannet around Chesil Beach but not often. And Shags are seen around Portland (or used to be when my friend was a young lad).
