| | | blue tit and bird box... I put a thread up some time ago about the placement of a bird box, any how i was on the pc earlier and the box is about 2ft below the window , i always listen out for the birds in the garden , and i heard a bluetit , i went to investigate , and just as i approach the window i see a blue tit fly away from the box.... i couldnt believe it , i waited for a bit but didnt see it come back.It was probably looking for somewhere to crash for the night , but it was nice to know somebird has noticed it . |

| | | Re: blue tit and bird box... The Blue Tits that successfully nested in one of my boxes are now using it for shelter each night. Once their chicks had fledged, I removed the nest and cleaned the box, then paced fresh hay inside for a bit of warmth. Now each night, just before dusk, the tits have a bit of a sing-song in the hedge, and then fly up to 'their' box. |

| | | Re: blue tit and bird box... We have several blue tits who roost in various places outside. Some use our boxes, others go into the roof space of our shed where there is a little hole, and another squeezes into a gap in an old stone wall. Love to watch them if I'm out just before dusk. They hang around and check out the area, so have to keep my distance, so as not to put them off. As soon as they are statisfied that the coast is clear, then dash to their roost spot as quick as they can, I assume so they don't give their hiding place away.
We have also had wrens crowding into a box in previous years but not seen many about this year. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
