| | | Thousands of fieldfare coming in now! My dad lives right on the coast of Dorset. He's just been texting me to let me know that fieldfares have been flying in along the coast and off the sea.
He first noticed them at around 9.30am this morning and were going over non-stop until about 11.00am (half an hour ago.)
There were approx 20,000 of them, with hundreds of wood pigeons and small finches. They were almost all going from east to west. There are still some flying over in dribs and drabs but the influx seems to be over, or for now anyway.
Some are flying very high up and some are flying at tree height. |

| | | Re: Thousands of fieldfare coming in now! I have not been out much as i'm stuck indoors doing some decorating, but have seen a few small flocks of Fieldfares flying past when i look out of the window
I have however been checking the local bird sightings, once i see reports of Waxwing i will be dropping everything to get out to see them. I did just read that someone counted 27,000 + Woodpigeon on a westward movement between 8 and 10 am this morning. There was also small numbers of Fieldfare, Redwing and many Chaffinch. |

| | | Re: Thousands of fieldfare coming in now! Great news on the fieldfares coming in, perhaps I'll get a look at them this year. And I too in my part of Wales am waiting anxiously for the first report of waxwings in the area! Hope I'll have the car when that happens so I can go take a look, so very much want to see these. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
