| | | Re: Lincolnshire Parakeet Interesting obsevation.
I wonder how far they (I'm guessing it was a rose ringed/ring necked parakeet) have spread.
About 30/40 years ago they were found close to Harlequins rugby ground in SW London but they have spread to other areas in the south east.
This year they made it to east London. In the last 30 years we have seen them about 15 times and at least 12 of those sightings have been this year.

| | | Re: Lincolnshire Parakeet Yep, we get 'em in our garden pretty much every day now. Personally I'm still very ambivalent towards them. Sure they're an attractive bird but they just don't belong here and don't seem right somehow. Fact of life now though.

| | | Re: Lincolnshire Parakeet A friend emailed me from Chicago last week about Monk Parakeets there
that lived near the Mayor's house and he regarded them as good luck mascots.
I have no idea how a bird like that can make it through a Midwest winter but
apparently they did and do. |

| | | Re: Lincolnshire Parakeet We see them every day as well over our garden. I heard people in Kent don't get on well with them as they eat all the fruit that's being grown!?! :-D
Nice bird, but yes out of place.
We also have Monk Parakeets breeding nearby which is a nice difference every now and then :-) |
