| | | Starling Roost in Somerset. I'm hoping to travel to the somerset levels on Sunday to catch a glimpse of the Starling roost. The missus will be tagging along, so long, wet walks are out of the question! Does anyone know of a good spot to watch from, preferably with easy parking and not too far from the action. I've been told that Westhay is good but I've no idea where that is. If anyone has satnav coordinates also, that would be much appreciated. Thanks Wizzo
(Oh! pm or am?)

| | | Re: Starling Roost in Somerset. Hi Wiz, I'm jealous, wish I could view too. But who knows my own personal starlings (whom I love very much) might be in your group! They nest in my eaves every year and disappear around Late Oct, and I've always wondered where they go and WHY they go as my eaves are warm and dry and cosy........Why do you think they go? They'll be back around March, squeaking and squawking and doing a fabulous repertoire of impressions. I Love 'em! However, did hear a squawk last night in said spot (I sleep in attic)...perhaps they've come home early due to horrible weather?
Another thing I have always wondered.....is .....1) how do they know to come back to my humble abode? 2) Is it the same Bird(s) or relatives or just one of the originals? 3) Not many other starlings around my direct area, so why did they chose to live here? They've been here for the last five years......???
