Sparrows with clouded white eyes

Over the past few days I have noticed approximatley half a dozen sparrows in my garden with what appear to be white/clouded eyes. They are flying with the usual large group of sparrows and show no other signs of injury/disease. Any ideas???

This afternoon I saw a sparrow with clouded eyes, sitting on the bird feeder. This was right next to the garden path and I expected it to fly off when I came in with the dogs but he didn't, he just sat there and eventually hopped further into the tree where the feeder hangs.

Because it was a dull afternoon and he was in the shade of the tree I didn't get the best look and at first thought he must be blind. I didn't think he looked very healthy in general (feathers, sitting a bit hunched up).

I'd be interested to know what it is.

It sounds like a disease, if no one knows the answer have a look on the RSPB site and see if anything fit the description there.

A quick google of bird eye disease brings up two, mycoplasmal conjunctivitis and psittacosis. It helps to observe good hygiene around the bird table.
