| | | Winter Migrants Hi All!
I am just wondering if anyone could tell me any good places to see some Waxwings. I live in Sheffield and am very close to the countryside. If anyone could tell me some spots that are regally used by the Waxwings that would be very helpful.
Regards,
Sam Winslow. |

| They always look regal!
Best thing is to subscribe to RBA or Birdguides then you can find out instantly.
I think there may be some free services too (other on here have mentioned it) but they may be out of date.
At the moment near you yesterday there were lots in Halifax, Yeadon, Cottingham, Ardsley Reservoir, Harrogate, Keighley, Doncaster, Leeds, Pickering, Kirbymoorside - total was 452.
They are on the move so I expect they will be coming to a supermarket car park near you soon.

| | | Re: Winter Migrants Your best bet is to keep an eye on housing estates that have been planted up with cotoneaster, berberis and various Sorbus spp.
Tesco's etc car parks usually are a good bet too. They are quite tame and will happily scoff berries whilst shoppers are going back and forth.
They're pretty much all around Britain and the southwest. The further south you go the fewer there will be, certainly for the time being.
Cheers,

| | | Re: Winter Migrants The only problem is with waxwings is they are very sporadic, as Adam say look for areas of berry growing shrub and trees, you may need to put the time in with them, I usually find them by chance more than design. |

| | | Re: Winter Migrants Hi guys, Thanks for all your advice. I finally managed to see some waxwings literally about 10 minutes and got some cracking photo's.
Thank you though.
