| | | Tyttenhanger park. Is there anybody that has been birdwatching here (tyttenhanger park herts..)i'm looking at going on thursday but , i dont really want to pay to see house ...if you get my drift.
The web keeps showing the house and its wedding fairs , but i thought it was just a area where you can have a walk ,like ashridge near where i live. Any tips ,links etc would be greatly appreciated.
camrea ready and binnos sorted , just want the weather , if not i think a little walk closer to home is in order...
cheers |

| | | Re: Tyttenhanger park. You can see the extent of the road at the northern edge of my map, just under the 'map' tab. Look to the west from the road's end, there is a line of trees. That hides a track that you can park down. Yellowhammers - Google Maps
No parking or other fees are incurred. I only found the house last time I was there, before then I didn't know of its existence.
Take a map with you, when you have had your fill of the gravel pit area, there are many public rights of way to explore.

| | | Re: Tyttenhanger park. I park just outside the entrance to the fishing lakes. From Hemel take the A414 until you reach the 'longabout' at the top of Deb's map, then turn back on yourself and turn into the Lafarge works just before the petrol station. The track forks right to the fishing lakes and the bridlepath starts there. The main pit (not the fishing lakes) is best for birds and tree sparrows etc can be found in the large oaks on the far side up by the farm. The Wikipedia entry probably describes it better than I can...

wasnt a good start .. the wife came home on wednesday saying there was a prob with her car.. so out i went on thurs to look at it with a friend who i was going to go with..2 hrs later time got on, and we decided not to go to tytenhanger..
Instead we went around the local fields .. not bad, we got out thats the main thing.. we didnt see nothing out of the ordinary My friend saw his first jay.. and observed one looking for a place to bury and acorn good fun that was ..green woody , great spotted woody..( in one afternoon) we heard the bullfinch but alas not sighting
wood pigeons, crows , magpies, g-tits b-tits and really to top it all of a kestral swooping down towards us ( almost like we were his prey ) about the height of a house , then going into a tree to perch , only to fly off again, the time my friend got his camera ready..it was a great sight and topped the day off
we are planning to go again soon | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
