| | ID Please possible Linnet? Hi folks
Sorry to hog Forums, but could anyone tell me if I have got a picture of a Linnet. I know still not the best but I have been trying to get a picture for months but they fly away to quickly for me. They seem to like fields where there is dung in the middle of nowhere so on a remote wet and windy Island its not the place to camp out to try and get a photo. Was trying to get closer to the Loch were I thought my Ring Necked Duck might be and came across this bird.
Thanks Debs

| | | Re: ID Please possible Linnet? Can't be sure on this one Deb's but it looks more like a female Reed Bunting to me. Reason I say this is because of the fairly prominent whitish markings running around the neck. I also think the beak is a little to stubby for a Linnet.

| | | Re: ID Please possible Linnet? No this is a bunting of some sort - rather than a linnet - it's much chunkier but as you live in a very interesting part of the world, particularly bird-wise I hesitate to jump to an id of female reed bunting, plus it's quite chestnutty around it's head which suggests little Bunting but I've never seen one of those in the feather so I hesitate to settle on that either......
Anyone else have an idea?
It does have quite strong moustachial stripe (reed bunting) but then does appear to have a buff eyering (little bunting), relatively unmottled cheek (little bunting).......
Good Luck! |
