| | | Roosting Starlings I'm wanting to go and watch roosting starlings and the spectacular show that they put on, could anybody give me some area's close to my home town of Egremont in Cumbria, where I can go and watch them, any help would be greatly received. |

| | | Re: Roosting Starlings Hi Darren and welcome to WAB
Last year there was a 50,000+ roost at Penrith - apparently best viewed from the KFC car park, opposite the hospital.
Your other nearest roost sites would be Leighton Moss and Gretna Green but I'm afraid I have no information on the current status of the roosts at these two traditional sites.
Hope that helps

| | | Re: Roosting Starlings I think they highlighted Gretna as one of the places to visit on Autumnwatch unsprung. BBC iPlayer - Autumnwatch Unsprung: 2010: Episode 1
Near the end.
It was busy enough before they advertised it, might be a bit busier now.

| | | Re: Roosting Starlings Thank you everyone who has replied with info about starling watching, it's much appreciated, Jeffh, Penrith sounds good as it's only 50 mins away plus it gives me a good excuse to have a KFC. I'll keep you posted as to how I get on. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
