Young pigeon?
I found this little guy under a tree. Even though I got really close, he (or maybe she) showed no intention of wanting to fly away, but kept walking slowly around. Looked like a very young pigeon to me, what do you think?

Thanks, that's what I thought. Though I had no idea how to tell what kind of pigeon...

Was it normal to be wandering around under the tree? I hope it wasn't in need of help that I was too ignorant to give...

Pigeon squabs, and other young birds, often leave the nest prematurely, but the adult birds are no doubt still in the area and should continue feeding it. It may also be able to climb into some scrub to roost.
