| | Another new visitor Having managed to attract coal tits and greenfinches i think this mornings visitor was a bigger shock. A great spotted woodpecker sat in the conifer trees for quite a while. This was one bird i was not expecting to see as the garden is a very urban one. |

| | | Re: Another new visitor Great-spotted Woodpeckers can be quite common in urban areas where there are parks/ gardens with suitable trees.
In London both Great-spotted + Green Woodpeckers are these days familiar birds right in the centre in the large parks.
Always a charismatic visitor to your feeders. |

Sounds like a female from your description! |
