Is this a juvenile Goldfinch?
Hi guys, this was on one of my feeders this morning and I'm a bit confused as to what it is, if it wasn't for the orange on it's head I would say Goldfinch, can someone confirm it for me, or put me right please

Juv Goldie alright, looks like some sort of growth or parasite on its head, doesn't look the healthiest of birds.

Yes it is for sure a young Goldfinch. In this area we called them greypates when I was a (MUCH) younger man.

I'm sure it's just the dishevelled look they get whilst they're developing their full plumage.
