sprouting sunflower seeds

I inadvertantly left 4kilos of sunflower seeds in a plastic container overnight in the rain, they are all now sprouting, are they still ok to put out for the birds? or should i bin them?

Depends on how long they have been wet. If all they are doing is sprouting, they won't do any harm, and the birds will decide whether they want to eat them or not. If they have been sitting in the container for a while, and smell unpleasant, best to bin them.

thanks for that, i'll put them out and let the birds decide, the rain was only in for a couple of hours till i spotted them, but they smell ok, and i have to say they actually look more appetising than they were as seeds (birds may have a different view though)
