| | | Kingfishers @ Runnymede Yesterday lunchtime at Runnymede I spied two Kingfishers fly at speed upstream parallel to the bank but each on opposite sides of the Thames over just a few seconds - brilliant flashes of blue some 15" above the water - marvelous Preceeding one bird was another but brown bird 100ft ahead on an identical flightpath. Was this a Kingfisher too? It was over too quickly to judge it form.
Also in the sunlit shallows near the bank were a shoal of dapple-brown fish about 5" - 7" long - what were they?
Most weeks we visit Runnymede Fields but I never seen either like today - hope you can advise |

| | | Re: Kingfishers @ Runnymede If the flight path was identical then it probably was a kingfisher.
We were at a favourite spot of ours last night at dusk watching kingfishers and waiting for the otters to appear. The bank twists and curves and the kingfishers follow it as you describe, fast and low. I havent seen anything else replicate the flight, but having said that it doesnt mean there isnt anything else.
