| | | feeder cleaning... I started my fortnightly 'aunt maggy' cleaning session yesterday, (in the rain ), took all the feeders of apart from my nyger feeder , i dont know why, they dont touch it so i left it hanging, but then whilst cleaning them in the kitchen the local residents came flocking down . why do they do that?
i did see one take from the nyger feeder which was nice to see... but i just couldnt understand why they came down when there was nothing hangin up.
i wish there was a book on bird psychology. |

| | | Re: feeder cleaning... I think birds rotate through the various feeding areas throughout the day, so the same birds will regularly re-visit your garden during a day to see what is about - even if you don't have any food available to them. |

| | | Re: feeder cleaning... If I dare to take the Goldfinch's sacred feeder away, they sing to me at ever increasing volume until I bring it back. It certainly hurries me up.
It will be easier as the nights close in, I can do it in the dark - just for their majesties.
