help identify this bird please

Hi. I saw a bird in my garden yesterday, havent seen one before, so took a photo. From spending a bit of time looking on the web, i think it is a jay, but after seeing a video of one, im not sure.

if anyone can let me know, that would be cool. in the photo it is down the end of the garden

He's certainly a Jay I love their blue flashes.

Hi Jackflash its definitely a Jay!i saw and heard one imitating a buzzards call the other day, clever birds! they used to be real shy in there behaviour
but visit bird tables much more frequently now.

nice one , had one in my garden and was over the moon. i had seen it in the area several times.
then i see a pair from my parents house today.....i do want to hear one imatating another bird mine...

thanks for the replies. ive never tried to identify a bird before, but this one was quite big and looked cool so i thought i would try

im in claygate, surrey, which is a fairly quiet area, so if i notice any others, ill come back on here.
