| | | Re: Pipit ID The one on the seaweed looks like a Rock Pipit. The one on the stone judging by the length of the hind claw is a Meadow Pipit. The one (or two) on the grass judging by the belly pattern is also a Rock Pipit.
That's my guess, an expert will be along soon.
My only slight reservation is that Rocks are grey and Meadows are brown but the colouring in your photos isn't so definite (apart from the Rock on the rock).

| | | Re: Pipit ID These are all Rock Pipits - dark legs, dark appearance to plumage, not particularly obviously streaked above, heavily streaked below (but with streaking not well defined), relatively long heavy bill. |

Rob S | Although Rock Pipits can appear quite grey, they are often brown (and some Meadow Pipits can be quite grey!).
The length of the hind claw is more of a feature for separating Meadow and Tree Pipits - longer in ground dwelling species like Meadow (& Rock), comparatively shorter in more arboreal species like Tree. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
