rare birds in south shields?

Hello all, wonder if anyone knows why there were loads of twitchers at South Shields (tyne and wear) this afternoon? They were all around the trow rocks area at approx 13.00 hours. I managed to get a quick look at the bird they were following- small thrush size, light/lemon under belly- but no idea what it was. something rare i am guessing. any one help?

You should of asked them, most bird watchers are friendly enough and answer any questions, The north east coast is a very good at the moment because the a lot of migrating (winter arrivals and summer vacating) and any other bird on passage. So get your down by the shore and do a bit of sea watching, you will see some great birds.
